| Description: | Basic Function: Machinists are responsible and accountable for all manufacturing activities required to successfully support the needs of the Customer. Machine operators must be willing to support any reasonable actions in order to ensure end customer satisfaction. Customer focus, flexibility, commitment to task, initiative all with a "can-do" attitude are examples of the behavioral traits of a Machinist. Individuals must be willing and able to work in a team environment and be committed to the single objective of Customer Satisfaction. Technical abilities such as the ability to interpret complex Engineering drawings and maintain tolerances less than .001" using a variety of measuring instruments (micrometers, indicators, etc.), machinist tools and various assembly tools. Machinists may be expected to simultaneously operate multiple machines and/or perform multiple tasks, including deburr and other finishing processes. Machinists will be responsible for assembly and disassembly as may be required. The process capabilities of a machinist and often incorporated into the cell include milling, drilling, turning, grinding, gear cutting, and assembly. Assets can be manual, NC, or CNC. This is subject to change as the cell evolves. Primary Duties and Responsibility •1. Safely operate cell machines and related equipment to accomplish the required operations in the cell. •2. Machine setup. | •3. Tool setting. | •4. Loading and unloading fixtures and tools. | •5. Deburring. | •6. Inspection of cell products. | •7. Material movement associated with the cell. | •8. Assembly activities in support of service and repair. | •9. Direct customer contact may be required at times. | •10. Receive training as required. | •11. Preventive maintenance. •12. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. •13. Provide training to other cell operators. •14. Generate and review documentation as required. •15. Other duties and activities in support of the cell operation. |

Results are checked for overall accuracy through established review procedures. Judgment is required as to methods or procedures to use. Only unusual problems are referred to more experienced staff.
